{SLG Gratitude Project} "The older I get, the more important I realize my health becomes. Being healthy, both physically and mentally, allows me to be a great Dad to two awesome girls, and a husband to one amazing wife! It also allows me work on developing and leading the people in my company and creating opportunities for them. Lastly, being healthy allows me to flat out just have FUN and enjoy life! Cheers to being healthy, both mentally and physically!"

{SLG Gratitude Project} "I love Thanksgiving because it’s the one opportunity when the whole nation slows down from busy schedules to reflect with gratitude and focus on being together. Too often the holiday season is filled with the stress of consumerism that we lose sight of what is most important. There is just something sweet about gathering with family around a table and the nostalgia of traditional comfort foods that bring us together in celebration. Gratitude truly does change our perspective."

{SLG Gratitude Project} “My favorite part of the holidays has always been centered around family. The gathering, the food, the conversations, and the making of memories. Carrying out childhood traditions and making new ones with your own kids is an amazing privilege to be thankful for.”

Awwww ❤️💕🤗. Beautiful. Love you sweetie

We have received multiple inquiries about why we do not just yank boxwoods out with a truck or backhoe. Granted, the up front cost to remove them that way is cheaper; it also causes many problems that extend far beyond your property.

We developed this short list to share with you the danger of improper removals or not removing affected boxwoods. Please also check out this video from our Instagram highlights, which features the process of a recent boxwood removal at a client’s home in the Boonsboro, Virginia area of Lynchburg.

1. If the affected boxwoods are in the vicinity of non-affected boxwoods, you will likely spread the disease to the non-affected plants. This disease is spread by spores and every time leaves drag or drop off the boxwood, you are spreading the spores.

2. Removing leaves from your property by blowing or vacuuming leaves that have dropped from affected boxwoods will spread the spores to neighboring properties. Furthermore, that equipment is now contaminated and is being transported to other yards; thereby spreading the disease.

3. Not removing the boxwoods at all will allow the spores to continue to spread to other plants on and off your property.

4. If you want to preserve the existing boxwoods on your property (even the hybrid cultivars) it will be important that you follow the approved removal method and follow up with preventative fungicide.

Our professional obligation is to do what is horticulturally correct and we make those recommendations to help mitigate the issue. While protocols may change in the future as the diseases progresses, we stand by our protocol of proper boxwood removal.

{SLG Gratitude Project} "The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing. Being a working mom is extremely tough at times. Having a loving husband and son that appreciate and support me means the world. Also, having an extremely strong family support system is something that I do not undervalue.

I am blessed to have a large family – sisters, parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, in-laws – that value the same family principles. The holidays for me, will definitely be spending time with those that mean the most to me!"
